Ever since Graham and I watched, and then shared, a few YouTube videos on Naxos we knew we wanted to do a boat trip. At first we looked into a group boat ride, but with COVID and Ruby's motion sickness we didn't think that would be a good idea. Then I looked into renting a boat and driving it myself, but Emilie wisely shut that down before I was too far into the boat license process. That left us with the option of hiring a boat with a driver. We decided this would be one of the big splurges of the trip.
The wind was up the previous day, and we wouldn't have been able to go so we were happy when we woke up and the sea was calm. We met Dimitrios at 9:30am and set of. We kept the agenda pretty loose. We hoped to do some snorkeling, we wanted to visit some uninhabited islands, we wanted to get lunch on another island, and we wanted to swim.
I can't say enough about how great the day went. I'll try to keep the summary brief and just post pictures. I'm also hoping Graham will post something on his cliff jumping.
Left Naxos and went to Rina Bay with is only accessible by boat or by a 2hr hike. Here we swam into a cave, then jumped off the top of the cave
Went to "little" Koufonisi island, which is essentially uninhabited and swam in to a beach covered with stones all the colors of the rainbow. It also had many nudists that were free camping.
Went to "big" Koufinisi island for lunch. Emilie fell in love with the town and decided that is where we need to move next (maybe for only part of the year)
Swam into another beach on they way back, this was with quite a few fish to see
We got dropped off at a different town as the wind decided to change and the sea was getting a little rough, but it was only a 10min taxi ride to get back to the apartment. The kids thought that blasting through the waves on our speed boat was awesome.
Here are some pictures
Sounds like a really fun day !!!!!
Love the photos and can't wait to see you guys again.
