Sometimes things just work out.
We blasted out of the villa in Lucca a little early to make sure we had time to deal with the rental car (and the cracked windshield), fill up with gas, and still have time to manage any airport issues.
Emilie figured out a route to the airport that would take us past the Leaning Tower, so we executed a perfect 12min visit to the tower that included all the needed photos (on Emilie's phone).
The Pisa airport was crazy, but quick and we had time to relax before the flight. The flight was on time, and before we even got our baggage on the Stockholm end the kids saw Bop and Yaya walking through baggage claim. They had arrived 15min before us from Toronto via Reykjavik, and we were all able to meet up in the Stockholm baggage claim. With all of the issues with air travel, it was nice that everything worked, and we are all together.
We are staying in two apartments about 5min apart in Gamla Stan (Stockholm Old Town). Yesterday we found the apartments and settled in, which took some work with all of the cobblestone streets and roller bags. The four person apartment is "quaint", though I'll hold off on a bad review until trying the Sauna.
Today we go to fairytale museum and the Pippi Longstocking play. Should be a great start to the final leg of the trip.
